Yesterday Myself and other Art students went and viewed a film about immigration titled Ellis directed by JR. This film has not been released yet we were one of 4 pre-screenings. The film was very very well put together. The videography and editing is some of the best I have ever viewed, there is really nothing to compare it to (I have posted a Link to the trailer video below). Everything in this video was very well thought out and planned.
From a directing stand point all the compositions of the images were astatically pleasing and the whole video was very cohesive. The snow made all of the buildings stand out, it also symbolized that the only think on the Ellis island were the the buildings and the art that JR made.
JR printed shoulder up images and pasted them on the building. He pasted them on the inside and outside of the buildings. He also pasted them on the doors of the Buildings and the windows. The choice of medium really added to the style of the final project. It didn’t take away like a sculpture or something else would. Below is an image taken from the video, it is a screenshot of one of images that JR pasted to the wall. The video consists of many of these images.
