Challenge #4
Final Images
The objective was to create an accordion book using collage (image and material consideration), juxtaposed with drawing and limited text to create a work that visually communicates an implied narrative. This implied narrative will be created through the choice of image, material, text in relationship to one another.
For me it is more important about the process "journey" of getting there than it is of completing the goal. So I created a two very different diagonally focused images on a sheet of paper. Each side is compositional is pleasing in itself and when folded up the individual squares are also pleasing. On the side of the juxtaposed pen drawings and colored pencil drawing I used repetition to create more unity but pushed the variety as much as I could. I also used my own images to show journeys, that you can go on and spark ideas of ones own journeys. The other side is of geometrically colored mountains and a collage of the sky using opposed balance. I created a device with the word "Liberation" because I want you to be free and have an open-mind when viewing / interacting with this work. The composition drops and how it lands is how I want the viewer to look at it. I want this element of surprise because every journey is a surprise and you never know what you are going to get.
